About me: Pam Pourzanjani

After retiring from my career as a senior academic I tried out various traditional crafts. Having inherited a couple of broken cane chairs from my grandfather many years ago, re-caning was top of my list. I therefore attended a course to learn how to re-cane my chairs, later finding out that my grandfather had similarly learnt how to do this when he retired the year I was born. I thoroughly enjoyed learning this heritage skill and have continued caning ever since.

I now re-cane other people's cherished chairs and rescue broken cane furniture and revive and re-cane them so they can go on to be used and loved by others.

Where it all started

The chair on the right was re-caned by my grandfather, the one on the left by me.
